There is also something to be said about the Divination School's Portent ability. Since your going to be swinging a weapon around replacing a bad roll with a better one is just as equally useful.

Be a small race and ride your auto dodging steed around. Using the repeating shot infusion and a hand xbow you can pump out solid damage with good defense.

Heavy Crossbow with Repeating Infusion and Sharpshooter and either Ranged or Close Quarters Shooter (UA) fighting styles. I like the Fire and Storm Runes.

WEBOct 1, 2020 · Gnome is great mechanically, and flavorful. Remember that, as size Small, you cannot wield any weapon that is Heavy, including great swords. You could two-hand a longsword, however. The crossbow is a good idea, and you gain access to an Infusion that ups damage and gives infinite ammo.

Infused throwing Spear with Polearm Mastery & Dueling (hopefully gets your DM to not kick you in the junk, for the extreme AC.) -3 attacks a +13 to hit 2d6 +8 x 2, 1d4 + 1d6 + 8 = 44.
