Metallica is one of the greatest bands of all time. And now, they’re headed to Blacksburg. Since the year 2000, the Virginia Tech Hokies have been using Metallica’s hit “Enter Sandman” as the team’s entrance song as Lane Stadium rocks.

Metallica is coming to Blacksburg as part of it’s M72 World Tour, marking 25 years of the iconic song playing as the Hokies take the field.

The band, whose 1991 song “ Enter Sandman ” is used as a football anthem by the Virginia Tech Hokies, will perform at Lane Stadium May 7, 2025. Heavy metal rockers Metallica are extending their current M72 World Tour adding 21 North American shows, including a date in the Queen City next spring.
