The four-day Chhath Mahaparv began with the 'Nahay-Khay' ritual on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh, just like other states. Devotees cleaned their homes and took a holy bath for complete purity and piousness.

The four-day festival is dedicated to the worship of Sun God and his sister Chhathi Maiya, a divine form of Devi Prakriti.

Chhath Puja, a significant festival honoring the Sun God, commenced on Tuesday with Nahay Khay, the first day of the four-day celebration. Devotees in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi gathered at riverbanks,

The fourth and final day of the celebration is called Usha Arghya or Parana Day. On this day, offer water (arghya) to the rising sun and end the fast after taking prasad.

Nahay Khay also marks the beginning of a strict 36-hour fast, during which devotees refrain from consuming any food or water, embodying their commitment to faith and discipline.

The rituals of Chhath Puja are demanding, but those who successfully observe them are believed to receive great spiritual benefits.

Chhath Puja festivities begin with Nahay Khay on November 5, followed by Kharna, Sandhya Arghya and ends with Usha Arghya on November 8.
