Tigers release veteran lefty after injury derails MLB comeback bid
DETROIT — Left-hander Bryan Sammons’ final pitch as a member of the Detroit Tigers organization won’t be one he remembers fondly. Sammons was released this week after suffering an undisclosed injury when he fell off the mound while throwing to just the second batter of a May 21 start with Triple-A Toledo.
