The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has rejected the terms of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The Iran-backed group's leader Naim Qassem said on Thursday that negotiations had been "futile" and "humiliating" for Lebanon, and rejected categorically by "broad segments of the Lebanese people".
The agreement depends on the cooperation of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia. The cease-fire could remove an obstacle in the talks between the United States and Iran.
The deal is contingent on Hezbollah halting attacks on Israeli forces and withdrawing fighters from southern Lebanon, the U.S. State Department said.
