DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — A jury found Karen Read not guilty of second-degree murder Wednesday in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend but guilty of a lesser charge of drunk driving. The jury handed down its decision after deliberating for at least 22 hours since June 13.

Prosecutors alleged Read hit her boyfriend with her car after an argument. Her lawyers argued she was framed in a law enforcement cover-up.

A jury cleared Ms. Read of charges related to the 2022 death of John O’Keefe, a Boston police officer, and convicted her only of drunken driving, in a trial that attracted wide attention.
