Ballet dancer Michaela Mabinty DePrince, who came to the United States from an orphanage in war-torn Sierra Leone, has died, her family said.

Just one day after Boston Ballet principal soloist Michaela Mabinty DePrince died at the age of 29, her adoptive mother also passed away from an unrelated illness.

DePrince died less than 24 hours before her mother, Elaine DePrince, died while undergoing a "routine procedure." The family says it's a tragic coincidence.
