Murray's return to the Maple Leafs crease 628 days since his last NHL appearance means much more than the win he recorded.

It was a long time coming for Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray, who finally played in his first NHL contest since April of 2023 when he was hurt against the Detroit Red Wings. Murray made 25 saves in his first NHL win in nearly 25 months,

Murray stopped 24 of 27 shots against the Sabres, securing his first NHL win in 638 days. The victory also improved his career record against Buffalo to 7-2-1. With the win, Murray secured the belt from his teammates for the player of the game.
