Nicholas Rossi, who faked his death then fled to Europe to avoid prosecution has been found guilty of first-degree felony rape in Utah.

An American fugitive who faked his death and fled to Scotland to escape justice has been found guilty of rape in the United States. Nicholas Rossi, who appeared in court under his other name, Nicholas Alahverdian, had denied all charges.

Jurors late Wednesday found Nicholas Rossi guilty of rape, a first-degree felony, just two days after his trial started in Salt Lake City. Sentencing is set for Oct. 20.
