Sunderland ’s new signing Nordi Mukiele says Granit Xhaka played a key role in persuading him to join the club – and has promised supporters that he will give “ten times more love” back to those who back him on Wearside.
On Friday, Sky Sports reported that Sunderland have agreed a £9.5 million fee, plus £2.5 million in add-ons, to sign Mukiele from PSG. The move allows the defender to close his chapter in Paris after a loan spell that didn’t go as planned.
Mukiele, a DFB Pokal winner with RB Leipzig, spent two seasons with Ligue 1 giant, PSG, sharing the dressing room with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Mukiele started his senior career in his native France with Stade Lavallois, before sealing a switch to Montpellier. From there, he spent a stint with RB Leipzig, before moving to PSG in 2022. The defender spent last season out on loan with Bayer Leverkusen, registering 24 appearances, including five in the Champions League.
