Samsung has used a combination of different hardware for its Galaxy S flagship phones over the last decade, often choosing Snapdragon and Exynos in different regions and models. And now it looks like the manufacturer isn’t ready to switch away from its own chipset just yet.

Currently, Samsung is able to hit 60% yield of the first-gen 3nm GAA process that the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 is made on, but the second generation is in the 20% yield range which is not only insufficient to score big foundry customers like Qualcomm or Nvidia, but also not enough for its own phones that will sell in the millions.

As the excitement around Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 release, the community was ready for the South Korean company to go all-in on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and offer every S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra with the advanced system-on-chip. Unfortunately, the latest benchmarking results may leave many in Europe frustrated.

That said, the latest Geekbench listing shows that the Exynos 2500 chipset could still feature in some regions, particularly in the Galaxy S25+ model. The device in question, with model number SM-S936B, is shown to be running the Exynos chip, despite the rumors surrounding the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s global rollout.

Samsung could announce four Galaxy S25 models in 2025. That fourth phone, the "Galaxy S25 Slim" is designed to take on Apple's upcoming "iPhone 17 Slim."
