San Diego will honor its military veterans on Monday with the traditional parade along the embarcadero downtown.

Veterans Day is Nov. 11 and every year the nation comes together to honor and celebrate those who have served their country in the armed forces. In San Diego, Veterans Day holds special meaning seeing as the region is home to a large number of active-duty military personnel.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Veterans Day Parade has been around for more than three decades. Its a day when the community unites to pay their respects to those who have served in the military. “I mean they truly are American heroes, they are the patriots that have really guaranteed our freedoms,” San Diego Veterans Day Parade Chair David Koontz said.

Fleet Week San Diego returned this week for its 23rd year to honor veterans, military service members and their families in the week leading up to Veterans Day. The more than week-long event is filled with events and opportunities to highlight and celebrate San Diego's military community.
