The election day forecast and map provided by the National Weather Service ( NWS) show a chance of poor weather in critical states like Minnesota and Wisconsin. The purple area indicates a slight risk of heavy snow, the beige area indicates a slight risk of heavy winds, and the lime green area shows a slight risk of heavy precipitation.

Election Day won't be a perfect weather day, however, as there are expected to be south winds of 11 to 17 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. There is a 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m. The NWS forecasts a 90% chance of rain on Tuesday night with a low around 60 degrees. Rain amounts may total between a quarter and half inch.
