Donald Trump penned a Truth Social post attacking bishop Mariann Edgar Budde after she dared to ask him to show mercy to children and other vulnerable communities during the National Prayer Service. Budde led the inaugural prayer service on January 21.

President Trump called a bishop who pleaded with him to "have mercy" on migrants and the LGBTQ+ community "nasty" and "not very good at her job."

This is a service for all Americans – regardless of who is sitting in the front row,” a Washington National Cathedral spokesperson said.

In the inaugural prayer service, the Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington asked President Trump to "have mercy upon the people in our country."
