Three men have been found guilty of trying to blackmail the family of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher. The men threatened to release around 900 photos and 600 videos of Mr Schumacher, his wife, and two grown-up children unless they were paid a £12 million sum.

A German court has found three people guilty of attempting to blackmail the family of Formula 1 great Michael Schumacher, with the plot leader sentenced to three years in prison.

A district court in Wuppertal, western Germany, sentenced the main defendant to three years in prison, while his son received a six-month suspended sentence and a fine of 1,200 euros, news agency dpa reported on Wednesday. The main defendant had previous convictions.
