Microsoft will end support for Microsoft 365 for Windows 10 this October, so you'll need to buy a new Windows 11 PC.

“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices,” the company confirmed. “To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”

For now, Microsoft remains mum on when it’ll phase out the free Windows 11 upgrade. The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. But Microsoft ended the free Windows 10 upgrade for Windows 7 and 8 users in 2016, one year after Windows 10 launched. After that, upgrades started at $120.

The company reiterates that your PC must still meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11 to be eligible for upgrade.

Microsoft 365 apps will continue to function after the Windows 10 end of support date, but there could be issues over time.
