The Met Office has issued two weather warnings for the weekend with thunderstorms on Saturday making way for heavy rain on Sunday

This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the weekend 19/09/2024. A change to much more unsettled and wet weather comes for southern areas through Friday and over the weekend with thunderstorms and heavy downpours likely.

The Met Office said that the county in south-west England had seen most of the thunderstorms on Saturday. Large hail and lightning has been reported in the region. By Sunday, more heavy rain is forecast to spread - bringing a continued risk of localised flooding and travel disruption.

A weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy showers is in force across much of southern England and Wales. The Met Office says damage to buildings as a result of lightning strikes, disruption to public transport and flooding should be expected within the affected areas.
