Yesterday, Creative Assembly surprised players by announcing Alien: Isolation 2 (or whatever the sequel will be called), but its release date seems to be a ways away. The announcement, which came a decade after the first game launched on the PS3 and PS4,

The announcement was made to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Alien: Isolation’s release, which originally came to consoles and PC before being porting to mobile devices a few years ago. The sequel is still in “early development” according to Al Hope, who’s returning to direct after helming the first game.

The Alien franchise has been on an upswing lately. The latest movie, Alien: Romulus, was regarded as a decent return to the series’ claustrophobic survival horror roots after the wild creative swings that were taken by Promethus and Alien: Covenant. There’s also an Alien TV show set to debut next year, helmed by Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley.
