Several parts of Delhi received light rain early in the morning on Friday adding to the winter chill in the national capital. On Friday, the India Meteorological Department said a western disturbance is likely to interact with lower-level easterly winds over the central parts of the country,

Delhi's air quality stays in the 'very poor' category. The IMD issues a yellow alert, forecasting thunderstorms and rainfall to ease pollution levels.

Despite the rainfall, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) improved slightly on Thursday but stayed in the "very poor" category at 340. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Pusa recorded an AQI of 353, North Campus at 342, Mundka at a severe level of 413, Wazirpur at 392, IGI Airport (T3) at 340, Dwarka Sector-8 at 412, RK Puram at 410.

The AQI of Delhi has been continuously improving on Friday as it recorded 348 at 5 pm, 341 at 6 pm and 334 at 7 pm. According to Central Pollution Control Board the AQI in Delhi was recorded at 388 around 9 pm on December 27 which falls in the 'Very Poor' category.

The AQI in all 36 monitoring stations listed under Centre's Sameer app was under 450 on Tuesday, while some were under 400 as well.

Delhi's air quality remains very poor with an AQI of 340. The India Meteorological Department predicts rain and thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, with dense fog expected on Sunday. Minimum temperature recorded is 8.

Authorities have urged citizens to minimise outdoor activities, especially for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.
