As Athena Health Care Systems looks to close two nursing homes in Bristol, over 400 employees could be subject to layoffs. WARN notices were filed with the Connecticut Department of Labor on Monday, indicating 253 Sheriden Woods employees and 178 Countryside Manor workers were notified they were being laid off.

Athena Health Care Systems told the state labor department earlier this week that as part of plans to close the homes that it would layoff hundreds of employees.

Athena Health Care will lay off 431 workers as it shutters two nursing homes in Bristol, according to a notice filed with the state Department of Labor (DOL) this week. It has scheduled the closures for March 2025.
