The Broncos head coach is deviating from his normal August routine and said Thursday he plans to sit nearly all of his starters in Saturday’s home preseason game against Arizona. Most of them, however, will get 8-10 snaps or so in Denver’s Aug. 23 preseason finale at New Orleans.

The Cardinals also played their starters in their preseason opener last week. The Broncos and Cardinals had a joint practice Thursday. That will serve as the work those teams first-teamers get against another team this week. Broncos coach Sean Payton said both teams will rest most of their starters in Saturday night's preseason game.

The Arizona Cardinals will not play their starters in their second preseason game, which is against the Denver Broncos this weekend.
