When Broward deputies arrested Jennifer Heath Box on Dec. 24, 2022, while she came off a Caribbean cruise, they had the wrong person, according to the suit. The person they thought they had detained was Jennifer Delcarmen Heath, also a Texas woman, but one with an arrest warrant for child endangerment in Harris County, Texas.

In two hours the couple had a flight home to Houston, where they would spend Christmas with their Marine son, who was leaving for a three-year deployment in Japan, and two other adult children. But according to a federal civil rights lawsuit filed Thursday by Box against the Broward County Sheriff's Office,

The lawsuit says the deputy and the county should have known Jennifer Heath Box was not the right suspect when she was locked up in 2022.
