Tropical Storm Sara formed this afternoon and threatens to bring "life-threatening and potentially catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides" to Honduras throughout the weekend, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center. A turn toward Florida is still possible, forecasters said.

Tropical Storm Sara has formed in the Caribbean, putting Florida residents on alert for a possible midweek storm. Sara developed into a tropical storm on the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 14, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The system currently has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph and even higher gusts.

A somewhat rare November storm system is gathering steam in the Caribbean Sea. Tropical Storm Sara will eventually make a turn to the east and Florida.
