The Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands has a great field following the U.S. Open as players look to lock down a huge payday. Here's a look at the opening round of action from Connecticut.

CROMWELL — The title defense is in full throttle already for Scottie Scheffler. The world’s No. 1 golfer fired an 8-under-par 62 at TPC River Highlands in Thursday’s opening round of the Travelers Championship. He is tied with Austin Eckroat.

McIlroy was at 64 along with Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark. Another shot back was Cameron Young. He was in the mix late on Sunday at Oakmont, and started the Travelers Championship by going from the rough to the bunker, and then a three-putt from 25 feet for a double bogey.
