DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have placed outfielder Matt Vierling on the injured list with a strained left oblique, the latest blow in his injury-riddled season. Shortstop Trey Sweeney was recalled from Triple-A Toledo to take Vierling’s roster spot.
