The Sabres' confidence in Devon Levi continues to be high after a good start last month in Toronto and the fact he's 12-3-1 with a 2.33 goals-against average and .913
The Buffalo Sabres will be without Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen on a day-to-day basis as the goaltender is dealing with an undisclosed injury, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff told Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News on Sunday.
After Jan. 1 last year, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was one of the most used goalies in the NHL, and he thrived. This season hasn’t worked out that way, though, for the 25-year-old. Paul Hamilton has more:
Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka both had hat tricks in the win. Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka turned in one of the most productive performances by a set of teammates in Buffalo Sabres history, both scoring hat tricks to fuel a 7-2 win over the Boston Bruins at KeyBank Center on Tuesday.
If you’re looking for a solid “team” game from the Buffalo Sabres, Paul Hamilton thinks Tuesday’s 7-2 win over the Boston Bruins is a perfect example. Read more from WGR:
Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka each recorded a hat trick as the Buffalo Sabres (19-26-5) rolled past the Boston Bruins (25-21-6), 7-2, at KeyBank Center on Tuesday night. Thompson notched his seventh career hat trick, while Peterka earned his first.
BUFFALO -- Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka each scored a hat trick and had an assist for the Buffalo Sabres in a 7-2 win against the Boston Bruins at KeyBank Center on Tuesday. Thompson got his 7th NHL hat trick, Peterka his first.
The lead lasted all of 55 seconds. The B’s top line got hemmed in its own end for much of the shift and, after it finally pushed it out of the zone, the players got caught in a change. On a Sabre 4-on-3, Matt Poitras got lost out high and Dylan Cozens connected with the wide-open trailer Thompson, who ripped a slapper past Swayman.
First time Bruins have surrendered multiple hat tricks in same game since Eric Daze and Steve Sullivan each had hat trick for Blackhawks on Mar. 9, 2003.
A rebuild in the NHL can be a grueling process. With the patience needed to develop prospects, and decide whether to add or subtract to the team and what each offseason has to offer, there aren’t many situations for a team to be in that are more stressful than this.
