In an NHL Trade Talk weekend rumors update, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks could both lose a player for a game or two as Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers were given hearings by the NHL Player Safety Committee after two crosschecks that occurred late in Saturday night’s game.

McDavid’s cross-check to Garland’s face is exactly the kind of play the NHL is trying to get out of the game. Violence exists in the league, but targeting the head is punishable by suspension and McDavid will have a hearing about the incident on Monday.

Matt Duchene leads the Stars in points (41) while ranking second in goals (17) and assists (24). Robertson leads Dallas in assists (25), ranks second in points (37) and is tied for third in goals (12). Wyatt Johnston is third on the team in points (32) and assists (22).

The hockey club will be without captain Connor McDavid for the first half of that homestand as the NHL handed him a three-game suspension on Monday after he delivered a crosscheck on Canucks forward Conor Garland near the end of a game Vancouver won 3-2 on Saturday.

The inevitable will become reality on Friday when the Erie Otters retired the No. 97 jersey worn by Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid.
