About 100 first responders from Gem State helped out during L.A. fires, including firefighters from Kamiah, Orofino and White Bird
Crews from Idaho Fire Departments are back in the state after the Idaho Office of Emergency Management assignment in California.
The Sand Hollow Fire Protection District is celebrating the return home of Idaho Task Force Number One which has been in California for the past two weeks assisting on the Palisades Fire. The task force was made up of crews from multiple fire departments from around Idaho including Sand Hollow Fire,
"When I got to the steps, they knocked me down, stepped on my head, pulled out my shoulder, broke my glasses, I was not breathing," Hemphill said. "If it wasn't for the Capitol Police Officers, I wouldn't be here 'cause I couldn't breathe. They pulled me up and put me behind them."
Idaho's Governor Brad Little is not known as a political flamethrower. The quiet rancher from Emmett has guided the Gem State through the pandemic and a boom-and-bust housing market. He recently gave a popular state-of-the-state address that received glowing accolades from both political parties. 
As wildfires spread across homes in Southern California, Idaho Gov. Brad Little said the state of Idaho is working to prevent similar devastation from happening in Idaho.
