The East Lansing Police Department says it is seeking charges in connection with the death of a 20-year-old man who was assaulted.

East Lansing City Council has rejected an attempt to block the implementation of a housing-related proposal passed by voters last November.

Caleb Shermoe, 20, was assaulted in the 300 block of East Grand River in East Lansing Saturday and later died, police said Thursday.
