The problem is due to a manufacturing defect in 12-volt starter batteries used in these vehicles. To fix the problem, Ford dealerships will replace them with new absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries, free of charge. Ford's latest in a string of (many) recalls covers the Bronco Sport made from 2021-2023 and the 2022-2023 Maverick. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that the Ford recall covers 272,817 models in total, which will be recalled for an issue with the 12-volt battery in both models.
Recall alert: Bring these Ford Broncos, Mavericks, to the dealer ASAP
If you drive these Ford SUVs or trucks, bring them to your dealer to be sure the battery is working properly, the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration said.
