A man has died in a wildfire north of Madrid, as Spain faces a brutal heatwave. Broadcaster RTVE reported that the man, aged around 50, was found with severe burns on Monday evening in the Tres Cantos municipality and died shortly afterwards in hospital.

Dozens of blazes were reported in Spain over the last 24 hours, including one threatening Las Medulas, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient Roman gold mines.
