India’s leading dairy brand, Amul, has issued a clarifying statement regarding its supply of ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD)

Amul clarified that it has never supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam amid misinformation on social media.

In a post on X, Amul said that it prepares its ghee (clarified butter) from "high-quality pure milk fat" at its production facilities, adding that it never supplied its ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

In a statement, Amul addressed social media rumours that claimed the company had been providing ghee to the temple. “We wish to clarify that Amul has never supplied ghee to TTD,” the company said, further stating that their ghee is produced from high-quality milk in ISO-certified facilities.

The Tirupati Laddu, also called the ‘Srivari Laddu’, has been the main offering at the temple for more than 300 years. The newly-elected TDP government alleged that the the previous YSRCP government of "adulterating" the laddu.

Amid a row over the use of animal fat in prasada given at Tirumala temple in Andhra's Tirupati district, Amul issued a clarification on Friday, stating that it had never supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

Amul refuted social media claims of supplying ghee to Tirupati Temple, calling it misinformation. The dairy giant clarified that its ghee is made from pure milk fat and undergoes stringent quality checks,

The new supplier took over last year after the temple administration cancelled the contract with the Karnataka Milk Federation
