Eight constituencies in the Jammu region and 16 from the Kashmir Valley voted on the first phase of assembly elections. Two more rounds of voting remain.

In the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections 2024, nearly 20% of candidates face criminal charges, including murder and rape. Key political contenders include BJP, PDP, and the NC-Congress alliance.

Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are being held for the first time since the abrogation of section 370. Candidates have been been leaving no stones unturned in their campaigning to woo voters in their favour in order to bag victories in their respective constituencies.
