Lane Kiffin talks Florida QB DJ Lagway

DJ Lagway has struggled mightily in 2025, but his play early against Ole Miss is putting the Gators in contention for an upset.
UF quarterback DJ Lagway’s future with the Gators could hinge on the final four regular-season games, beginning with a visit to Kentucky.
Florida put together a horrific first half against Kentucky, and Gators fans were on social media voicing their frustrations.
With the Florida Gators trailing 24-7 at half to the Wildcats, interim head coach Billy Gonzales made the change, electing to go with true freshman Tramell Jones Jr. for the second half. Lagway finished the game 11-for-19, 83 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
While interim head coach Billy Gonzales wouldn’t name a starting quarterback for Florida’s week 12 matchup at Ole Miss, he did note that sophomore DJ Lagway will take first team reps at Monday’s practice.
It’s OK for Florida if DJ Lagway plays somewhere else next season, so long as the Gators’ next coach can lure transfer talent.
Lagway was replaced at halftime of Florida's 38-7 loss on Saturday after throwing three interceptions in the first half, marking his third multi-interception game this season. The former five-star has thrown for 1,762 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.5 percent of his passes this season.
