SEATTLE (WKBN) – Former Cleveland Cavaliers player and head coach Lenny Wilkens has died at the age of 88. He coached 2,487 NBA games, a record that still stands. Wilkens was the first person to reach 1,000 wins as an NBA coach and was the second person inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player and coach.
Lenny Wilkens, a smooth playmaker who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach, died Sunday. He was 88. In a 15-year playing career, Wilkens was an All-Star nine times and twice led the league in assists.
