The city of Grand Rapids is going to create four and a half acres of green space right next to the new amphitheater. The last time the city undertook a project near this size was more than a decade ago.

The executive director of the group that will own and operate the Acrisure Amphitheater in downtown Grand Rapids says it could open Memorial Day weekend in 2026.. The first acts are expected to be announced sometime in the next three to six months.

Construction is underway inside the Fifth Third Building, where the top seven floors are being converted into 140 apartments in what officials say is a creative way to add new housing in downtown Grand Rapids.
