SEATTLE (KOMO) - Authorities in Washington state have charged a woman with murder after police say she killed her father with an ice climbing axe. It all began after an argument over turning on the lights inside the home they shared. According to court papers, the first signs of trouble in the case happened when neighbors heard smashing glass.

Authorities say the woman grabbed an ice climbing axe, tripped and strangled her father with the tool, before attacking him with it.

Burke tripped her father, strangled him and then "bit him and hit him several times in the head and side with the blunt and sharp ends of the ice axe," according to prosecutors. Burke allegedly sat next to the victim until he stopped breathing.
