Pilates (/ pɪˈlɑːtiːz /; [1][2] German: [piˈlaːtəs]) is a type of mind-body exercise developed in the early 20th century by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Pilates called his method " Contrology ". [3] .
