The EGR cooler feeds exhaust through a tube into the intake, and a delta-P (differential pressure) sensor monitors pressure on both sides of the system. That sensor — along with others like the intake temperature sensor — helps the ECM control the EGR valve. If the delta-P passages clog, EGR flow becomes inaccurate and drivability problems begin.
